Fridays: 7:00 – 10:00 PM
Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Sundays: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Lunch break on Saturday is 12 – 1pm. Anyone who wishes to attend the 5pm Mass (English) is invited to do so.
Lunch break on Sunday is 11am – 12pm. Anyone who wishes to attend the 11am Mass (Croatian) is able to do so at this time.
Program Focus - FRIDAYS
Tambura Seminar (intermediate tamburaši are those with few years’ experience and can read notes.) ** Please bring your own music stands if you can**.

Friday evenings are designed specifically for intermediate tamburaši although all are welcomed.

In addition, all intermediate tamburaši are warmly invited to attend the entire seminar weekend.

Focus: Dječji folklor – folklore for kids

All participants must sign in and take a name tag each time they attend.
Food & Refreshments

Lunch is not provided.

There are several food options a short drive away, but nothing within quick walking distance. Or pack a lunch.

Water, coffee, and snacks will be provided. Note to local groups: if you would like to bring snacks or baked goods for the group table, it would be appreciated.

Program Notes

The listed program is intended as planned; however, changes and additions may occur depending on attendance, participant abilities, interest and weather.

Folklore participants will receive a printed booklet with text and songs.

The same workbook will also be emailed to each participating group.

Instructional videos of the steps will be shared via a shared drive after the seminar concludes.

Each group that sends participants to the tambura seminar will receive a copy of the arrangements used at the seminars.

WORKSHOPS: WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 25 – 7:30 pm
Workshops on a) narodne nošnje and b) traditional Croatian instruments
**Both workshops are at the SAME TIME**
We plan to make this workshop available via Zoom (or similar platform). A PDF of the presentation will also be sent to each group participating in the weekend seminars.
We plan to record the workshop on traditional Croatian instruments and make it available if required.

Mississauga, Kanada - održan još jedan uspješan folklorni i tamburaški seminar H-KFS-a.
S ponosom zaključujemo još jedan izuzetno uspješan folklorni i tamburaški seminar u organizaciji Hrvatsko-kanadskog folklornog Saveza. Ovaj dugogodišnji događaj, jedan od najvažnijih ciljeva Saveza, ne samo da osigurava očuvanje kulturne baštine u suvremenom svijetu, već i jača vezu među generacijama Hrvata u Kanadi.
Kroz pjesmu, ples, tamburašku glazbu, raskošne narodne nošnje i jedinstvene običaje, sudionici svih generacija imali su priliku učiti i usavršavati svoje vještine pod vodstvom iskusnih instruktora, koji su s ljubavlju i strašću prenosili znanje o našoj bogatoj tradiciji.
Posebnu zahvalu upućujemo našem dugogodišnjem i cijenjenom tamburaškom instruktoru, Maestru Siniši Leopoldu, na neumornom radu i posvećenosti svakoj novoj generaciji tamburaša. Također, veliko hvala Filipu Martiniću Filip Martinić na izvanrednom vođenju intenzivnog, ali istovremeno zabavnog i inspirativnog plesnog i vokalnog seminara. Filip je sudionicima dodatno približio hrvatsku glazbenu baštinu kroz prezentaciju o tradicijskim glazbalima, što je izazvalo veliko oduševljenje.
Ove godine seminar je obogaćen predavanjem o narodnoj nošnji kao našoj "identity card" te predstavljanjem zanimljivih projekata Hrvatske matice iseljenika, koju je vodila Lucija Starčević, voditeljica odjela za kulturu HMI. Thank you, Lucija Starčević!
Kao i uvijek, zahvaljujemo župniku Božidaru Tenšeku iz Crkve Hrvatskih Mučenika u Mississaugi na srdačnom gostoprimstvu i podršci. Također, izražavamo zahvalnost Veleposlanstvo Republike Hrvatske u Kanadi - Embassy of Croatia in Canada Veleposlaniku RH u Kanadi, g. Vici Skračiću, te Croatian Consulate General in Mississauga Generalnom konzulu RH u Mississaugi, g. Anti Joviću, koji su službenim prijemom odali priznanje našim stručnjacima i radu Saveza.

NEW ON FRIDAYS:
Kolo: folklore singing, vocal warm ups, choreography tips, special focus on how and what to teach younger kid groups - djecji folklor!
Tambura: Although all tamburasi can participate, Friday nights will be designed specifically for intermediate tamburasi. Senior tamburasi will have a segment towards the end of of each Saturday and Sunday session.

Sun Jan 19: Dinarska Zona: Licko kolo (not tanac), Primosten, Sibensko kolo
FRIDAYS: 7-10 pm

FEES for Savez groups: flat fee of $150 per group, which includes notes and seminar video, and then $50 for each attendee.
One person = $150, 2 people = $200, 3 people = $250 etc

The Canadian Croatian Folklore Federation (H-KFS) is holding its annual folklore and tambura seminar in January 2017

Seminars will be held at the Church of Croatian Martyrs in Mississauga, ON

Seminar dates: January 14/15, 21/22 , 28/29, 2017 (Saturdays 9 – 5 and Sundays 9 – 4)
Dance breakdown:
January 14/15 > Panonska zona
January 21/22 > Jadranska zona
January 28/29 > Alpska zona
Fee structure for all 3 weekends for Savez members: $150 flat rate plus $50 each participant
Dance seminars are intended for teachers, potential teachers or very keen and interested dancers.
Tambura seminars are intended for intermediates and above.
Seminars are largely conducted in Croatian.
Savez groups interested in booking Ivo and Sinisa for group visits, must do so asap.
Non-Savez members are welcomed; please inquire.
